old season – new season…

Bright sunlight illuminates a path through the bare trees and Evergreens of Tibbets Brook Park in Westchester County’s city of Yonkers, as we approach the last day of winter 2010.

And after giving much thought to the current events happening around the world these days, the relief from the cold, harsh winter that shivered the depths of our bones over the past 12 weeks was a minor setback in comparison to the natural disasters around the globe.

The other day a parade honoring the Irish took place along New York City’s Fifth Avenue. When the Stars and Stripes went by there was a lump in my throat that came from the realization that we are much more fortunate to only have suffered from a few cold days (and some recent flooding).

Let us say a prayer for those on the other side of the globe suffering from the crisis in Japan and Africa.

Until next time!
