..sunday styles…

My first Sunday back in the Big Apple…

joining with the crowds along the Riverwalk in Riverside Park on New York’s Upper West Side who were all doing something more relaxing on this summer weekend now that the Yankees finally have their first Mr. 3,000 (hits) in Derek Jeter…

Plenty of people enjoying the warm sun and the slight breeze blowing in from the Hudson River, even the state bird of NYC (pigeons are not really our state birds) are just doing their usual bit of hanging about.

I guess we were missing the smell of the sea and the sights of all the bancas (boats) we saw during our adventures in the Southeast Asian country of the Philippines, so our stroll took us past the Boat Basin Cafe under the West Side Highway on West 79th Street, where we spotted the kitchen staff busy making their preparations for the Sunday Brunch crowd..

I suppose a banca is a boat is a banca, no matter where you are. But this gathering of watercraft, with it varying styles and sizes, is a lot different than what we were accustomed to seeing in the waters of the South China and Sulu Seas.

Yes, we were definitely back in New York…

Until next time…
