..the return of friday night jazz..
For the 5th consecutive year, the Yonkers Downtown Waterfront BID continues with its Jazz & Blues & More @ Dusk Summer Concert Series every Friday night at the Yonkers waterfront.
With majestic views of the vistas of the Palisades of New Jersey just across the Hudson River and located just north of New York City, it continues to be a Friday night pastime for locals (and visitors) that begins with mellow sounds and river breezes while sitting in the amphitheatre awaiting the setting sun.
This past Friday the talented jazz flutist Jan Leder performed on this, the third week of the annual free Friday night musical series with her quartet that had Art Lillard (drums), Hiroshi Yamazaki (keyboards) and Ratzo Harris (bass) accompanying her, and a whole crowd of appreciative fans.
Afterward, as the sun set finally behind the mountain cliffs across the river, it was time to choose from the many local eateries nearby – several were just steps away – for a cocktail or dinner and perhaps a continuation of conversation that began while listening to the soothing sounds from Jan’s flute.
It can now be appreciated as evidenced from the size of the crowd that continues to flock to this weekly setting, that while nothing is ever free, Friday night jazz at the pier remains a worthwhile ending to a workweek and beginning of another summer weekend in Yonkers – it’s still free and going strong.
As always, please roll your mouse over each photo to get a full description/caption of each image or follow the highlighted link to view the full gallery of Jan Leder and her performance at the pier.
Until next time!
