…waiting for Irene..19:30 hours…

Airports closed, death count at 4, rains alternate between heavy and drenching….the pier continues to attract the curios…

…not quite the same for lovers along the waterfront when the sun isn’t shining…

..now we have two tugs on standby…

…despite the warnings, dangers and deaths (reported so far), there is still a sense here of excitement as the storm bears down on the coastal areas of New York City, a mere few miles away..

…and families attempt to record this extraordinary weather event for their own archives…

..and one can only hope that the assistance needed doesn’t involve water or wind…

Six hours later following the first posting on Hurricane Irene in my neighborhood…the rains have picked up a bit and darkness begins to fall. Let’s pray that we survive the night without much incident…

Be safe everyone..

Until next time..
